Housing Authority of the County of Lackawanna

 

The Housing Authority is currently putting together a Section 3 list of qualified and eligible tenants and businesses as required by HUD 24 CFR part 135 Section 3 regulations.

The purpose of Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Act of 1068 (12 U.S.C. 1701u) is to insure that employment and other economic opportunities generated by certain HUD financial assistance shall, to the greatest extent feasible, and consistent with existing Federal, State and local laws and regulations, be directed to low and very low income persons, particularly those who are recipients of government assistance for housing, and to business concerns which provide economic opportunities to low and very low income persons.

A person seeking the training and employment preference provided by Section 3 bears the responsibility of providing evidence that the person is eligible for the preference.

Qualifications, applicant shall be at least 18 years of age, be physically fit to do the work and be a high School graduate or have a GED.

You may sign the list at the Manager’s office at your development. Once signed up the Section 3 Coordinator will be in contact with you.
