{"id":68,"date":"2015-05-15T15:30:28","date_gmt":"2015-05-15T15:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.hacl.org\/?page_id=68"},"modified":"2022-09-21T14:40:45","modified_gmt":"2022-09-21T14:40:45","slug":"about-us-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hacl.org\/?page_id=68","title":{"rendered":"About Us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Our goal is to provide safe housing at an affordable house.\u00a0 We are under the regulations of the\u00a0federal department of the\u00a0Housing and Urban Development Agency (HUD).<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>We are located in northeastern Pennsylvania, approximately a two (2) and one half hour drive from New York City, Philadelphia, or Allentown.\u00a0 We have Public Housing developments throughout Lackawanna County (of which Scranton is the county seat).\u00a0 The developments stretch from the northern end of the county to the southern tip.\u00a0 Like most of the northeast it is a strong &#8220;neighborhood&#8221; community with strong family values and cultural diversities.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">All our developments are within communities where there are services, hospitals\u00a0and retail areas.\u00a0 Some of our developments are within walking distance from these areas and some a short drive or bus trip.\u00a0 Lackawanna County has\u00a0 county wide bus transportation, which makes it fairly easy to get around.\u00a0 Lackawanna County is a safe, comfortable place to raise a child or for the senior in your life to settle.\u00a0 Pennsylvania is one of the best states for senior citizen benefits.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Our developments are policed by local authorities and HUD&#8217;s &#8220;one strike out and your out policy&#8221; helps protect our residents.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial; font-size: small;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Our Board of Commissioners hold monthly meetings and discuss the activities of the Housing Authority as well as receive reports on leasings, vacancies, budget and any situation that has developed during the previous month. Their responsibility is to adhere to HUD policies as well as State and Local.
