The Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program<\/strong> is a federally funded program that provides low-income families to afford safe, sanitary housing in the private market. Participants are able to find their own apartments or single family homes that meet the requirements for the HCV Program. Participants may find their own housing within the County of Lackawanna, excluding Scranton and Carbondale. Those municipalities have their own separate Housing Authorities. You may contact their Housing Authorities, respectfully, for their current openings.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants will be offered a voucher based on their household size. Once participants find an apartment, and the landlord is willing to participate in the HCV program, the necessary RFTA packet will be filled out. Once all documentation is complete, a housing specialist will review the material and make a decision if the unit is affordable. If the unit is affordable, an inspection will be scheduled. Once the inspection passes, new admission into the program will be granted.<\/span><\/p>\n
